Installation Of Officers Party January 22, 2011

As the members and their guests arrived, they were greeted by music provided by the B.A.A. band under the direction of Chris Migliore. Everybody seemed to enjoy the music, while they nibbled on the hors d’oeuvres and mingled with their friends.

At 7:00pm President Arsene VanVooren and his Officers and Board Members were escorted into the hall by Marshall Jeff Horan and the Club Chaplain Reverend Jim Commyn. President VanVooren asked the membership to rise for a moment of silence for our deceased members. He then thanked the Band Directors Chris Migliore and Larry Huntington for their service. The past-Presidents in attendance, Joe Deckers, Etienne Elskens, Bob Putrycus and Norm Kay, were introduced. President VanVooren then introduced his wife Pam, children Samantha and Arsene, and his mother Irene. He also introduced Frank Baecke, President of the Retirees, Alberta Bauer, President of the Auxillary, Elisabeth Khan and Margaret Roets of the Gazette, Pat DeLaere, President of the Century Club, Reverend Jim Commyn, our Chaplain, and St. Clair Shores Mayor Bob Hison and his wife Nancy. President VanVooren then asked Father Jim to swear in his Board members, Officers and himself.

Rick Dauw was then asked to present the game winners their gift:

Next, Bob Putrycus read a brief biography of the scholarship recipients and President Arsene VanVooren then presented them their checks. Katherine DeWolf and Julie Mahieu were in attendance, but Matthew Warnez was away at school, so his dad Thomas accepted on his behalf.

President VanVooren then introduced our two Men-of-the-Year: Mike Huyghe and Mel Ferdinande. Mel was unable to attend but his son, David, accepted the award on behalf of his father.

Father Commyn then led the attendees with a prayer before the meal was brought out. Dinner was served along with a delicious dessert table. The rest of the evening was spent socializing with friend and dancing to the music of Eric Neubauer. During the raffle that was held, one of our members, Gabe DeKimpe had a slight medical problem but was checked out by St. Clair Shores EMS and was found to be okay.

The party ended at midnight and was a very nice evening.
