General Meeting June 21, 2011

With 82 members in attendance, President Arsene VanVooren called the meeting to order at Barrister Gardens. The membership observed a moment of silence for deceased members Richard Loosvelt and lifetime member George Corteville; also remembered were Adriene Reygaert, wife of member Maurice Reygaert and Martha VanDenBergh, wife of past President Albert VanDenBergh and stepmother of Al VanDenBergh, Jr.

Roland Deprez brought us up to date on our finances and Bob Grant reported our membership at 295. Our delinquent members were sent their last reminder.

Arsene VanVooren recapped the golf outing and the upcoming picnic. The card games start at 2:00pm and the fun games begin at 2:30pm, the band will play at 3:00 and food will be served at 4:00pm. The picnic begins at noon and will end at 6:00pm.

Dale Verhaeghe introduced Bill Depauw as our guest of Joe Dubay.

Norm Kay reported that George Haezebrouck had hip surgery and Pat Kacanowski had shoulder surgery.

Gary and Chuck were serving lunchmeat and veggies along with cake from the ladies.

Al VanDenBergh Jr. reported that he has mailed out 10 scholarship applications.

Pat DeLaere announced that they were going to remove the cross that was originally at our Lady of Sorrows from Annunciation Church on July 9th at 11:00am to be refurbished and hopefully up at St. Gerard’s in Farmington Hills. If you have the time, try to be there for moral support. Rick Tanghe has tickets to a Tiger game on September 9th.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15pm.
