B.A.A. Golf Outing September 12, 2010

On Sunday, September 12th, what started out to be a cloudy and cool day but turned out to be sunny and mid-70’s, the B.A.A. held their annual Fall Golf Outing at Bello Woods Golf course.

President Arsene VanVooren along with the help of Patty VanDenBergh and Bob Putrycus greeted the golfers as they arrived and directed them to their courses for the day. There turned out to be 59 golfers for 18-holes and 21 for 9-holes, which was a better turnout than the June outing.

Some of the 18-holers were able to enjoy a pop and hot dog prepared by Chef Chuck Horan after finishing their first nine holes. Unfortunately it was too early for beer!

It turned out to be a long day for some of us, so Arsene is going to try for a shotgun start if there are as many golfers next year. Al VanDenBergh, Jr. handled the best-ball scoring and prizes.

Winners of this year’s prizes for 9-holes were:
Ladies’ Longest Drive-Cindy Werbrouck;
Men’s Longest Drive-John Roelandt;
Closest-to-the-Pin winner was Steve Penner.
The winning team for best-ball with a score of 30 was Mike Huyghe, Steve Penner, Kurt Richter and Paul VanDenAbele.

Winners for 18-holes:
Women’s Longest Drive-Lucy Deckers and Anna Onderik(who happens to be my granddaughter and just started playing this summer);
Men’s Longest Drive-Adam McArthur and Brian McArthur;
Closest-to-the-Pin-Adam McArthur and Bruce DeDene.
The winning team with a score of 63 was Ken Hugyhe, Kevin Huyghe, Mark Ruling and Axel Brandt.
The 2nd place team shooting 68 was Roland Deprez, Eric Deprez, Mark Deprez and Joe Wolf.

Congratulations to all and we hope to see everyone back next year.

Respectfully Submitted,

Bob Putrycus
