General Meeting November 16, 2010
The meeting was called to order at 7:35pm by President Arsene VanVooren at Barrister Gardens with 85 members in
attendance.
Arsene reported that the Children’s Christmas party is December 12th at St. Gertrude’s from 2pm to 6pm.
Children of members age 12 and under are free. Ming the Magician will perform and Santa will arrive as well.
There will be gifts for the children and food and drink for both young and old. The B.A.A. band will also play.
The Installation of Officers dinner is set for January 22nd at Barrister Gardens. The doors will open at 6:00pm with
the introduction of the new board and festivities to begin at 6:30pm; dinner will be served at 7:00pm.
Larry Mahieu announced that the band will play at the Gazette’s St. Nicholas party on December 4th at American House
East. Their Christmas concert is on December 8th at 7:30pm at St. Gertrude’s meeting rooms A, B & C.
Alex Huyghe was our guest for the evening. Alex is the grandson of Antoon Huyghe and hopefully he will join the club.
Norm Kay announced that Mike DeBacker and Mel Ferdinande are home, but Mel will return to the hospital after
Thanksgiving for more surgery; also Charley Phlypo was back in the hospital.
The Retirees Board election resulted in one change to the existing board; Gary Hugyhe replaced Ted Westfall.
Al VanDenBergh, Jr. has notified our scholarship winners Catherine DeWolf, Julie Mahieu and Matthew Warnez; they will
receive their checks at the Board party on January 22nd.
The Century Club has some Red Wings tickets for March 11th; if they have any left over, they will offer them to our
club.

President VanVooren then turned the meeting over to Pat DeLaere and John Vanek to run the nominations for the B.A.A.

There were 12 nominated for 10 positions. The elections will be held at the December General meeting. The candidates are Bernie Allemon,
Frank Baecke, Rick Dauw, Butch DeSmet, Joel Goovert, Chuck Horan, Gary Huyghe, Norm Kay, Larry Mahieu, John Roelandt, Scott Schumacher and
Al VanDenBergh, Jr.
