General Meeting February 16, 2010

Prior to the start of the meeting, President Arsene VanVooren called the Board members together to review the application for membership from Michael Kardasz. He was approved. The meeting was then called to order at 7:30pm by President Arsene VanVooren at the Barrister Gardens.

A roll call of Board members showed all present except Norm Kay and Al VanDenBergh, Jr. The minutes of the January General and February Board meetings were read. A Thank-You card was read from Cari VanHoorelbeke, one of our scholarship winners, thanking the Club for selecting her as a recipient. Cards were also read from the families of recently deceased members Medars Backers and Oscar Vercruysse, thanking the Club for the kindness and consolations in their time of sorrow.

Treasurer Roland Deprez read the January 2010 financial report. Roland also thanked John Roelandt for filling-in for him during his illness.

Financial Secretary Bob Grant reported membership at 303. There are still 38 members not paid for 2010.

Arsene VanVooren announced that Feather Bowling will be at Bath City Bistro on March 21st. More details will follow. Bob Putrycus is taking names for the April 28-30 casino trip. The cost is $159.00 per person with stops at Petoskey, St. Ignace, and the Soo. We will be staying in St. Ignace for 2 nights.

Vice-President Dale Verhaeghe then introduced membership applicant Michael Kardasz, who was then sworn in by President VanVooren.

Larry Mahieu has tickets for their April concert. Larry also paid tribute to deceased member Oscar Vercruysse for all of the time he devoted to the band.

Arsene reported that Larry Allemon was in the hospital for testing, Frank Mahieu was back in the hospital, and Bob Janes was at home recuperating. Hank Boullard who had been ill was in attendance.

Our chefs, Chuck and Mel and their helpers were serving chili dogs and potatoe salad for our snack.

Etienne Elskens reported that the bulletins will be mailed out early in April as he and Judy are going to soak up some sun in a warmer climate.

Scott Schumacher had 20 prizes to give away and Marshall Jeff Horan reported 94 in attendance.
