General Meeting January 19, 2010
Prior to the start of the meeting, President Arsene VanVooren called the Officers and Board members together to review
the applications for membership from Bob Free III, Daniel Wriestewald, and Karl VanDerwarden. There were all approved
subject to the usual conditions. The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by President Arsene VanVooren at the
Barrister Gardens. A roll call of Officers and Board members showed all present except Roland Deprez, Bill Meldrum, and
Al VanDenBergh, Jr.
Our treasurer Roland Deprez was still recuperating from surgery so John Roelandt filled in for Roland by writing the
checks and giving the year-end financial report.
Bob Grant reported membership at 302 and that we were expecting between 260 and 270 at the Meet-the-Board party.
Arsene VanVooren reported that everything is all set for the annual January party with doors opening at 6:30pm. He also
noted that the dates published in the bulletin for both 3-day casino trips were wrong. The correct dates are
April 28-30 and September 22-24. Contact Bob Putrycus if you are interested. The cost is $159.00. We go to Petoskey,
St. Ignace, and the Soo on both trips and will be staying at St. Ignace.
Membership Chairman Dale Verhaeghe introduced the 3 new applicants who were then sworn in by President VanVooren.
Larry Mahieu reported that the band will play at the Meet-the-Board Party and that he now has tickets for a price of
$22.00 for their concert on April 17th.
Norm Kay reported that Bob Janes had colon surgery, Chuck LeFevre had an aneurysm, Marcel Marevoet has breathing
problems, Frank Mahieu had hip surgery, Oscar Vercruysse has a low blood count, Hank Boullard has pacemaker problems,
and Roland Deprez had surgery. Hopefully they are all recovering.
Our chef, Mel Ferdinande had cold cuts and veggies for the evening snack.
Publicity Chairman Etienne Elskens reported that the bulletins were mailed out and if anyone did not receive one,
to contact him.
