General Meeting May 19, 2009

The B.A.A. held their monthly meeting at the Barrister Gardens. The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by President Arsene VanVooren. A moment of silence was observed for deceased member Albert Ostyn and for Margaret Tanghe, wife of member Marcel Tanghe and mother of member Richard Tanghe.

A roll call of officers showed all present. A Thank-You card from the family of deceased member, Leo Michaels, was read.

Treasurer Roland Deprez read the April 2009 Financial report. Bob Grant reported membership at 307 with 15 members still not paid.

Arsene VanVooren reported that the April Joint Meeting went will with no complaints. He recapped the Hazel Park outing and was still taking names for the June golf outing at Bello Woods. The 18-holers will have a shotgun start at 8:30am and the 9-holers will start at 9:30am. The Club Picnic is July 12th at Blossom Heath from noon until 6pm. Arsene noted that the response for the Tiger game is poor, so he thinks it will not occur.

Vice-President Dale Verhaeghe introduced George Haezebrouk as our guest for the meeting.

Band Chairman Larry Mahieu announced that he has CD’s available from their April concert.

Norm Kay reported that Dan DePauw was having heart problems, Ernie DeBaene was in the hospital, and Joe Deckers had a hernia operation. Norm also reported on the death of deceased member Albert Ostyn.

Webmaster Chuck Myny reported that 10 members took advantage of the free ticket offer on the website.

Our kitchen crew of Chuck and Mel with the help of Gary, Dick, and Mike Huyghe were serving cold cuts and veggies.

Scholarship Chairman Al VanDenBergh, Jr. again reviewed the eligibility rules for those asking for scholarship forms.

Scott Schumacher announced there were 20 prizes for the drawing.

Jeff Horan reported there were 83 in attendance.

It was also announced that Oscar Vercruysse celebrated his 85th birthday on May 18th.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10pm.
