General Meeting December 16, 2008

With a snowstorm blowing outside, 105 men braved the elements to attend the B.A.A. monthly meeting. President Arsene VanVooren called the meeting to order at 7:30pm and all of the Board members were present.

Treasurer Roland Deprez brought the membership up-to-date on our finances. Bob Grant was collecting dues as well as guest fees for the January Installation Party. Bob is also looking for advertisers for our new bulletin.

Entertainment Chairman Norm Kay reported that everything went well at the Children’s Christmas party and he thanked all who helped to make it a success. A list of 2009 activities will be listed in the January 2009 bulletin.

The Kitchen co-chairman, Gary Huyghe, thanked everyone who helped out this year during his & Mel Ferdinande’s illnesses. Gary is stepping down from the Board until he is 100% healthy.

Larry Mahieu reported that there were about 50 people at their Christmas concert and tickets are now available for their Spring Concert.

Vice-President Dale Verhaeghe introduced Don Kardasz, a guest of John Roelandt. Dale also introduced membership applicants Tom, Ray, Dan and Herb VanSteenkiste, Floyd Willis, and Ed VanRossen who were then sworn in by President Arsene VanVooren.

Frank Mahieu reported that Mike DeBacker, Al Ostyn and Jim Baetens are still on the sick list.

Today I delivered some Belgian cookies to our shut-ins, who were happy to receive them and extended their thanks to the Club. I visited with Jim Baetens, Mike DeBacker and Henri VanReybrouck. Rick Tanghe was kind enough to take cookies to his uncle Maurice Verkeyn. I would also like to thank Etienne Elskens for purchasing the cookies for the Club to give.

Publicity Chairman Etienne Elskens will be collecting the articles for the bulletin at the January Board meeting.
