General Meeting July 15, 2008
Prior to the start of the meeting, President Arsene VanVooren called the Board members together to
review and approve the application for membership of John Buckley.
The meeting was then called to order at 7:32pm by President Arsene VanVooren at the Barrister Gardens.
A roll call of Board members showed all present except Bob Grant, Leo Michaels, Norm Kay, and Greg Silage.
Bob Putrycus announced that member Don Vermeulen became a grandfather for the first time to a baby
girl and Joann Denolf, wife of member Hank Denolf had heart surgery. My apologies to Richard and
Margaret Loosvelt as I failed to mention that their son, Donald, passed away recently.
Treasurer, Roland Deprez read the June 2008 financial report. Financial Secretary, Bob Grant was on
vacation in the Bad Lands, but membership is at 302. President VanVooren was filling in for
Entertainment Chairman, Norm Kay and he announced that everything was set for the picnic and hoped
for good weather. Larry Mahieu still has some tickets left for the Hazel Park outing. Arsene was
taking names for the September 14th golf outing. The annual softball game is September 21st at
Kennedy Park in Eastpointe. The September Casino trip is filled but you can still put your name on
the stand-by list as there is a chance for some reservation cancellations. Contact Bob Putrycus.
Our Recreation Chairman, Leo Michaels has been on the sick list lately but hopefully the doctors have
diagnosed the problem and Leo soon will be taking the necessary steps for a complete recovery.
He is at home so cards and lots or prayers are welcome. Gary Huyghe has volunteered to fill-in for
Leo during his illness.

Vice-President Dale Verhaeghe introduced membership applicant, John Buckley, who was then sworn-in by
President Arsene VanVooren. Dale also announced that the scholarship applications are not due back
by August 1st as a few of the school’s administration staff will not be back to work until August,
so therefore cannot get the necessary paperwork to the applicant.
It was also reported that Bob Janes is recuperating at home under the watchful eye of nurse Ceil.
A speedy recovery wish to you also Bob! Etienne Elskens reported that the bulletins were mailed out.
Our Webmaster, Chuck Myny was accepting e-mail applications to have the bulletin sent out through
e-mail rather than the regular mail. Contact Chuck Myny or Bob Grant to have yours deleted from the
