General Meeting June 17, 2008
The monthly meeting of the B.A.A. was held at Barrister Gardens. It was called to order at 7:30pm by President Arsene VanVooren.
The only Board member absent was Roland Deprez. Roland and his wife Maggie were busy entertaining Roland’s sister and brother-in-law
Joseph and Monique Vanderschaegle who were visiting from Nieuwpoort, Belgium.
The minutes of the previous meetings were read. Bob Grant read the financial report in Roland’s absence. Bob also reported our
membership is at 302 as he deleted 3 members. He also contacted 8 others and hopes to hear from them.
Norm Kay reported on the June golf outing. The 18-hole winners in the Peoria handicap system were my grandson, Max Onderik along with
Ken Allemon who tied for 1st place with a 72. Tied for 2nd place were Ted Monahan and my son-in-law, Brian Onderik. Ken Allemon shot
an actual 75 which was low score for the day. My grandson and his father had a little side wager. Max shot an 88 and his dad had a 92
so I guess Brian cuts the grass from now on! Closest-to-the-pin winners for 18-holes were: Lucy Deckers and Ron Vercruysse. Longest
Drives winners were Ken Allemon and Al Apfel. The 9-hole winner was Gary Huyghe. The Longest Drive winner for 9-holes was Pat
Kacanowski and Closest-to-the-Pin was Clyde Bender. Thanks were given to Arsene VanVooren and Al VanDenBergh, Jr. for handling the
Peoria system, Mel and David Ferdinande for checking everyone in and to Chuck and Jeff Horan for standing over the hot grill cooking
those tasty hot dogs! Norm then reviewed the rest of the events for the year. The cost of the September Casino trip is $169.00 per
person. This is due at the August meeting.
Mel Ferdinande and Gary Huyghe along with help from Dick and Mike Huyghe served cold cuts and veggies to both the men and ladies in
honor of Mother’s and Father’s Day. The ladies treated the men to some delicious cake.
The Band will play at 3:30pm at the July picnic according to Band Chairman Larry Mahieu. Card games will start at 1:30pm. Kids’ games
will begin at 2:30pm and food will be served at 4:00pm. Mark your calendar for Sunday July 20th behind Blossom Heath in St. Clair
Shores to share a lovely day with family and friends at the Club picnic.
