General Meeting March 18, 2008
Prior to the start of the meeting, President Arsene Van Vooren called the Officers and Board members
together to review the application for membership of Brian Hillewire. He was approved subject to the
usual conditions. The B.A.A. held their monthly General Meeting at the Barrister Gardens with 90 members
The Club received an acknowledgement from the Capuchin Monastery for the donation in memory of deceased
member Robert Marshall. Treasurer, Roland Deprez, brought the membership up to date on our finances.
Roland also filled in for vacationing Bob Grant and reported our membership at 301, but we still have
about 30 members not paid for 2008
Recreation Chairman, Leo Michaels, reported the leaders through March are:

Gary Huyghe was back on the job after spending some time in the hospital. Gary thanked all who called
or sent cards during his illness. It was reported that Al DeBacker, Mel Ferdinande and Frank Mahieu
were still recuperating, and Ted Westfall who had surgery was up and in attendance. They would appreciate
phone calls or cards from their friends.
Vice President Dale Verhaeghe introduced John Bopp, son of member John Bopp, as his guest for the evening.
Dale then introduced membership applicants Tom Warnez and Brian Hilliwere who were then sworn in
by President Arsene Van Vooren.
Cy DeWitte has tickets for a Tiger game on August 15th versus Baltimore. Contact Cy for more details.
He hopes the weather will be more conductive to a ballgame than last year. President Van Vooren spoke
of the fundraiser for the Gazette on April 4th at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial.
A motion was made and supported to get a website. Member Chuck Myny will handle the arrangements. We are
looking for a (website) name to go by. The membership was told that the Club made a donation to the
Gazette for the 2008 year.
